Definition of Healing – What is Healing?
So, what is healing? The definition of the words “heal” and “healing” are widely used within the medical and health fields as a “means to return to health”. Healing is also considered a way to naturally remedy and restore radiant health within alternative and complimentary modalities such as crystal healing, aromatherapy and homeopathic medicine.
What is Healing? A Question of the Ages…

rooted in the tradition of Hippocrates, who is considered to be the “Father of Medicine.” Hippocrates asked himself what is healing and is credited with being the first physician to reject superstitions, legends and beliefs that credited supernatural or divine forces with causing illness. He separated the discipline of medicine from religion, believing and arguing that disease was not a punishment inflicted by the gods but rather the product of environmental factors, diet, and living habits. The therapeutic approach he advised was based on “the healing power of nature.”
What is Healing – For the Self
In crystal healing, we totally adopt the above view as well. When the causes of illness, pain and dysfunction are identified and dealt with, we may heal. It is up to us to heal – we are the only ones who can make this happen. We may receive all kinds of help by medical procedures, medicines and various modalities, which will certainly help us and support our will to live well, but if a person has lost the hope to live, nobody can change that except the person himself or herself.
What is healing for the body and mind? The body is a miraculous bio-machine with room for our consciousness. Even if we can only see three-dimensional matter, there are parts of us that are invisible because those parts, like our energy, emotions and our thoughts, exist on another dimensional plane. Something tangible such as heat, which we cannot really see, can certainly be felt. Similarly, emotions cannot be seen, other than as in a resulting tension, or facial expression in the person who experiences it. An emotion like sadness is felt deeply, and in turn has the possibility to make us immobilized, but only if we let it.
There are helpful healing techniques and meditation methods to address our emotional and mental states. Learning to apply some of them is in fact quite easy and requires little effort on your part.
